🦋 Player

Name: Audrey
Active Times/Pace: PST, during the day, fairly fast but always happy to take things slow
Brackets/Prose: Either, default to brackets
Offensive Subjects & Triggers to Avoid: I'm generally okay with most things as long as they're handled respectfully and are being brought up because they're important to the character. If you're not sure about something, feel free to reach out!

🦋 In Character

Physical Affection: Yes
Physical Violence: Yes
Relationships: Yes, likely to be a trainwreck
NPC Interaction: Yes
Psychic & Psionic Information: No psychic guards in place unless Loki has significant reason to prepare them. If Loki knows someone is reading their mind, they might start lying to themselves within their own head. Everything is likely overwhelming due to the sheer length of their life and filled with conflicting stories and emotions due to all the different Lokis they've been. Some memories seem out of order, anything pre-God of Stories is slightly fuzzy. The original Kid Loki's memories have been erased, there's only Ikol's memories of those events.
Magical Information: A great magical presence, befitting a god. Their magic is recognizable as Loki's and recognizable as Asgardian, often using runes. Their magic typically glows green and is cast through their hands or their scepter. If your character has magic that detects lies/illusions, only some of Loki's magic will register as such. Loki is still susceptible to magic, especially if they don't have time to prepare or if the magic is also story-based.
Medical Information: They're 6'4" and weigh 525 lbs and I wish this was a joke, but Asgardians are just like this! Their skin and bones are incredibly dense and difficult to damage. Loki's body temperature is also colder than average.
Offensive Subjects & Triggers Associated with This Character: child abuse, child death, metaphorical suicide and past suicide ideation, fantasy racism, fantasy transphobia, implications of incest (Hela is Loki's daughter in myths and Loki's sister in MCU/Rivals, but in the comics Kid Loki created Hela with magic and was in love with her)

🦋 Out Of Character

Backtagging: Yes
Threadhopping: Yes, as long as it's okay with the other player
Fourthwalling: Yes
Not Interested In: shipping with underage characters, rape, noncon(dubcon is okay!), not interested in playing out targeted transphobia/homophobia, but up for characters discussing their experiences with it

🦋 IC Information

Character Name: Loki Laufeyson
Age: Physically appears to be 20s-early 30s, mentally several millennia old
Canon: Marvel Comics
Canon Point: Immortal Thor #15, upon being banished by Thor
Character History: link
Canon Abilities:

Superhuman physiology: As a Frost Giant who appears to be Asgardian, Loki possesses superhuman strength, dense tissue, durability, regeneration, stamina, and longevity. Basically, their body is very heavy and a punch from the Hulk only causes them to get a black eye, nothing worse. They also heal quickly and age very slowly. For an Asgardian or similar beings, they're about average or even weaker than average in some cases. For ordinary humans, they're... you know, a god.

Magic: The limits of Loki's magic are not well-defined. They're shown to be capable of illusions, shapeshifting, conjuring objects from thin air, defense/warding spells, amplifying others' abilities, energy projection, teleportation, interdimensional travel, time travel, and even altering reality itself. There's probably more that I'm forgetting that appear in like one issue from 1982 so forgive me. Lies/stories form the basis of most of their magic, ie: telling lies/stories and making them real. It's easier to say then what Loki can't do. For example, they can't fly. They can't perform certain abilities without preparation(meaning time, materials, runes, spell circles). That said, what abilities require preparation changes depending on the comic. Loki will also place limits on themselves, sometimes unknowingly, as when they sealed off a portion of their magic in Young Avengers. For the sake of RP, Loki will not be able to travel to other realms or greatly alter reality. I personally like to write Loki's abilities as whatever is the most fun and makes sense for the story we're all telling collectively, so I have no issue limiting them to only basic magic.

Inventory: A scepter containing the essence of a Loki from an alternate timeline. It has no special powers of its own, only acting as a conduit for Loki's magic and a stick for them to wave around and be dramatic.

🦋 Personality

Option 1: Answer the following questions. Elaborate on the answer, especially your characters thoughts and feelings surrounding the answer. For Canon Characters, you can choose four questions. For Original Characters, you will need to choose six questions. Keep the word count to 150-400 per question.

1. If your character could ask for one wish, and it's going to be magically granted without any consequence, what will it be and why?

For everyone in their universe to be freed from the status quo of the narrative. Loki has long been aware that they're a fictional character and bound to what other writers decide for them. In Defenders Beyond, she sought to escape the story entirely and free herself completely from all plots and tropes. However, instead of leaving the Eighth Cosmos, she chose to stay in hopes of eventually freeing everyone. Loki is lonely in their knowledge of the fourth wall, as well as pitying those who can't yet see it. They have to watch plots repeat themselves over and over again, reboot after reboot. The worst of all is knowing that Thor cannot change in the same way as them, that Thor is completely bound to the story and will continue to act as the plot requires him to. Early on in Immortal Thor, Loki asks Thor to trust them as both his ally and his villain and while Thor agrees then, he later banishes them for their evil deeds. Loki likely expected this to happen, as this is always how things turn out between them and Thor, but it was still frustrating.

All that said, Loki would be skeptical of a wish without any consequences, as magic always has some sort of cost. They might hesitate to actually make the wish, realizing that the cost is the lack of a fulfilling plot to get them to their goal. While Loki aims to be free from the story, they still love telling tales and being a part of them. They would want to know how they freed everyone, and an easy magic spell isn't a satisfying solution. It's like reaching the ending without any character development!

2. If there's one person your character would follow to another realm, who would it be and why? If there's no one, state that and explain why.

Their brother, Thor. They've done so before and will do so again, and again, and again. Where there is Thor, there must also be Loki and vice-versa. For almost their entire lives, they've been connected, both being raised as princes of Asgard. While Odin has many children, they're closest to each other and Loki's own story always comes back to Thor. Thor is everything Loki isn't and will never be, a hero beloved by all. In Agent of Asgard, their mother accepts Loki's fate as a perpetual villain so long as it means Thor will always win. And still, Loki loves Thor. When Loki sacrificed himself, it was Thor who searched for and found his reincarnation, bringing him back to Asgard. In stories where Loki does win, his downfall is often that he refuses to kill Thor.

And Loki would argue that of course, they have to follow Thor if he very stupidly traveled to another realm. No longer solely his villain nor his ally, Loki is Thor's skald and tells his story to those who would hear it. While Thor has often felt responsible for Loki, needing to stop all his evil deeds, Loki also feels responsible for Thor, needing to guide his story to its proper ending. If Thor needs the bifrost back, Loki will find a way to do so. If Thor needs a weapon to face a new enemy, Loki will teach him how to make it. If Thor needs to become stronger, Loki will be the villain he needs to push himself further. Whether it is Midgard or Utgard, Loki will follow Thor whether he wants them to or not.

3. What is your character's most outstanding personality trait, and why?

Change. Loki is best defined by their ability and their desire to change. This encompasses mischief, chaos, stories, lies, and even evil, everything that makes Loki who they are. Loki completely changed their own personality several times in pursuit of this, from a bitter old man to a bright-eyed child to a guilty young adult to a carefree god to a tired king and now to a teller of tales. Despite all their differences, change is what unites them and guides them. Even when they seem to get what they want, Loki quickly tires of anything that stays the same and will even sabotage themselves if that brings change. This is why Loki has again embraced their role as an occasional villain, as being a hero was a temporary thing that couldn't stay forever.

That doesn't mean they don't doubt all their changes, even now they're wondering if they should've stuck with being a hero. Then again in a timeline where Loki was a hero for centuries, he became a villain again while seeking to change his past. That change, which doomed an alternate Midgard, is what ultimately created Loki as the God and Goddess of Stories. Even going back to Loki's childhood, he longed for change in Jotunheim, and changed himself to better fit in as an Asgardian. Here, they will keep changing and they're excited to see what this could mean. That might make it difficult for others to trust them, with how fickle and mercurial they can be, but in all their changes, Loki can only be Loki. The only change they'll always refuse is changing into something other than Loki.

4. Your character gets to return home, but when they do they learn that they've been gone for hundreds of years. How do they react?

Loki would first react with excitement, as it is technically something exciting. There's stories to catch up on, new things to learn, so many changes! It's also not something entirely unheard of for an Asgardian, as time can pass differently between realms. They expect to outlive all of their mortal friends, while knowing they have many years ahead with Thor and other gods. But beneath their excitement, they'd still have that human feeling of loss, as they are a reflection of humanity. More than anything, Loki would hate the idea that they missed out on being a part of the story and this would be true even if there was another Loki to take their place and make sure nothing bad ever happened. They want to be that Loki, the Loki that was present, the Loki that is the main character.

If they were truly gone all that time, they would also feel guilty for anything that might've been caused by their absence. Not necessarily anything bad, they might even regret if there were evil things they were supposed to do and didn't. A story without one of its characters won't move along properly, there'll be awkward pauses, weird plots, and so on. There might be stories that were supposed to end and that have continued because Loki wasn't there to end them.

And if things weren't different with or without them... that would be even worse. If everything continued as usual, Loki would feel as if they didn't matter. They might even act out, try and force a change in the world now that they're back. Prove that they exist.
